How to use TTS in Discord
Add Mimiq to your server, join a voice channel and send your first message. This guide walks through the default setup and the settings that can affect playback.
Send your first message
Add a TTS bot
Add Mimiq to your server (you'll need the Manage Server permission, or send this page to an admin who has it). No configuration needed; it works out of the box.
Join a voice channel
Join the voice channel where you want to be heard. With the default settings, Mimiq joins when you use /tts. If an admin has disabled auto-join, use /join first.
Type /tts and your message
Choose Mimiq’s /tts command in Discord, fill in text and send it. By default, it speaks in the call and attaches the audio. Your server’s playback setting may change this.
Optional: make it yours
Pick a different voice right in the command, set a personal default with /setvoice, translate into 25 languages with translate_to, clone a custom voice with /clone, or ask an admin to enable auto-read for eligible messages
in the connected voice channel’s own text chat.
If you do not hear anything
Check that you are in a voice channel and Mimiq has Connect and Speak permissions there. An admin can check whether TTS is enabled, which playback mode is selected and whether channel or role rules apply. Read Mimiq’s reply for the specific reason a message could not play.

Where should I type the command?
In a channel where Mimiq is allowed to respond, choose Mimiq’s /tts command from Discord’s command picker and fill in its text option. Join a voice channel first if you want speech in the call.
Why is TTS not working in my server?
The usual suspects, in order: you're not in a voice channel (join one first), the bot lacks permission to join or speak in that channel, TTS was disabled in the server's dashboard, or a channel/role rule excludes you. The bot's reply tells you which gate stopped it.
Is Mimiq free?

Can it read every message automatically instead of using a command?
Yes. Enable auto-read in the dashboard and eligible messages typed in a voice channel's text chat are spoken while the bot is connected. Server permissions, moderation and personal opt-outs still apply. Perfect for hands-free use or members who can't speak.
What voices can I use?
Servers start with a library of natural default voices. You can add custom ones by cloning a voice from a 20–90 second clip with /clone, and everyone can set a personal default with /setvoice.
